February Concert Series Sponsor: $2,500 – $5,000
The company will have a two-city run of a concert based on the work of Aiken-based visual artist Leslie Alexander at the Etherredge Center in Aiken, SC on February 4, 2023 and Sottile Theatre in Charleston, SC on February 11, 2023. In the largest venues the company has produced work to date, three pieces of company repertory will be restaged: Glimpses & Layers (2015), Behind, Beyond, Between (2021), and Hover (2022 Piccolo Spoleto premiere). Hover has an original commissioned musical score by Laura Ball and costume design by Janine McCabe, both artists in Charleston. In addition, the concerts will premiere a new work that was started while in-residence at Camp Ballibay for the Fine and Performing Arts entitled Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. NY-based multimedia and sound artist John Jannone created arrangements of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons for the piece, and the artistic directors will continue collaborating with Jannone leading up to the Spring 2023 premiere.
Sponsorship of the concerts will help support rehearsal costs, collaborator and company stipends, production costs including costumes, music, lighting and scenic design, travel and accommodations in Aiken, and marketing. The company is working with Laura Ball to produce professional recordings of her piece for Hover, as well as securing Ball and a violinist to play live at the Charleston concert.

February Concert Education Sponsor: $500 – $1,000
The artistic directors are collaborating with local Aiken and Charleston studios to provide selected middle through high school students the opportunity to perform with the company in our February concerts. Our newest work, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, was developed while the company was in-residence at Camp Ballibay. The first showing at the camp in August 2022 included campers ages 13-17 performing with the company. It only seems fitting that the work continues to have a component of pre-professional dancers sharing the stage with the company, so the artistic directors are workshopping the piece for the Spring premiere to include area student dancers.
Support of this initiative will help cover costs of rehearsals, including the company traveling to Aiken, and costuming for student performers.

Dance Film Sponsor: $1,500 – $3,000
In the Spring the company will begin its screendance collaboration with filmmaker and former company member Maggie Bailey. Bailey danced with Annex Dance Company as an apprentice and company member from 2013-2016 prior to moving to Austin, TX to pursue an MFA in Film and Media Production. The artistic directors have been eager to create a second film ever since the 2020 release of Salt in the Soil. Working with a former company member on this project adds a layer of knowledge about Annex Dance Company that will enhance our ability to showcase movement and concepts from the rehearsal process to the screen. The artistic directors are in conversation with Bailey to solidify a direction for the film and all filming details. The film will premiere at a Charleston venue prior to a virtual release to patrons of the company.
Money raised towards this project will pay for Maggie Bailey’s work as director and editor, a videographer to assist, rehearsal and filming stipends for the company, rights to music, and all production and premiere costs.
